Food Delivery

Meals On Wheels

Mad River Seniors manages the Mad River Valley's vital Meals on Wheels program. Homemade (and dietician-approved) meals are prepared each morning, packaged, and delivered free of charge to neighbors who are homebound or unable to prepare nutritious meals. Many local volunteers contribute to the food preparation and delivery process every weekday. (See MOW tab for monthly schedule of meals.)

If you or a senior you know is interested in receiving Meals on Wheels, please call the Central Vermont Council on Aging's (CVCOA) Help Line: 802-477-1364. They will help determine if you qualify for this free service and refer you to our Meals on Wheels coordinator.

CVCOA Eligibility Guidelines

A person is eligible for Meals on Wheels if age 60 or over and unable to obtain or prepare meals on a temporary or permanent basis due to at least one of the following:

  • A physical or mental condition (ongoing or temporary)

  • Lack of or inadequate facilities to prepare meals

  • Inability to shop, cook, or prepare meals safely

Also eligible:

  • A spouse, regardless of age, of eligible individuals

  • Individuals under age 60 with a disability who reside with an eligible individual

Preference is given to individuals who are low-income, minority, limited English proficiency, and at risk for institutional placement.

Free Wheelin'

Free Wheelin' is a free transportation service serving Mad River Valley seniors and non-seniors who are unable to drive or don't have access to transportation. Volunteer drivers use Free Wheelin' vehicles or their own cars to transport Valley neighbors to medical appointments, other essential errands and appointments, and Mad River Seniors activities.

If you need a ride or would like to volunteer to drive, call Free Wheelin' at 802-249-3427
